Freshdesk Freddy AI vs a Chat + Phone Agent (2026)
Freddy is Freshdesk’s written-channel AI. The phone is usually Freshcaller — and a third-party voice agent for a real conversation. Guzli is one agent on website live chat and inbound. Guzli publishes this comparison.
Freshdesk Freddy AI vs a chat + phone agent (2026)
Pick Freshdesk + Freddy if Freshworks is already the desk — service-level agreements, the portal, Freshdesk Omni (the omnichannel workspace), Copilot — and shoppers live in email, webchat, WhatsApp, or social. The phone is someone else’s product, or Freshcaller plus a marketplace voice app is an acceptable second agent.
Pick Guzli if a small Shopify (or BigCommerce / WooCommerce / PrestaShop) team needs the same order-status and return answers on website live chat and the inbound store number, on a published plan, while Freshdesk stays the inbox.
Guzli sells that front-line agent and wrote this page. Freddy and Freshcaller facts are desk research of Freshworks’ own articles, read 19 September 2026 — not a timed call against Freddy + Synthflow.
This page answers whether Freddy is the same agent on webchat and the packing-slip number. Invoice pairwise: Guzli vs Freshdesk. Rip/shortlist: Freshdesk alternatives. Pairing: Freshdesk integration.
Three Freddy objects, before the phone
“Freddy” is not one product. Freshworks’ Freddy in Freshdesk Omni article (still the public Omni explainer we found) splits:
- Freddy Self Service — chatbots on written channels.
- Freddy Copilot — agent assist: knowledge in the conversation, rephrase, summarize, live translate, quality coach, and summarize voice transcription after a call is recorded.
- Freddy Insights — analytics.
AI Agent Studio (modified 20 August 2026) is the control layer for Chat AI Agent and Email AI Agent only. Chat maps to Web Chat, WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, LINE, and other Freshchat channels. Email maps to mailboxes, portals, and web forms. Phone is not a supported Agent Studio type on that page.
Copilot summarizing a Freshcaller recording is useful. It is not Agent Studio answering the packing-slip number.
Freddy’s channel list is written, not the packing-slip number
Freshworks markets Freddy AI Agent as a no-code agent that takes actions — track an order, start an exchange, check inventory — on email, webchat, WhatsApp, or social. That marketing page is the honest written-channel product. It is not “the bot that also picks up the packing-slip number.”
Those actions matter. If Freshdesk already owns tickets and you need “where is my order?” and exchanges inside Freshdesk conversations, Freddy on written channels is the job. Confirm Shopify / Stripe connectors on your Omni / Agent Studio workspace.
Guzli trains on help articles, the site, files, and solved tickets from the desk you keep. Live chat and inbound voice share that knowledge. Handoff opens a ticket in Freshdesk, Salesforce, Zendesk, or Guzli’s own help desk.
Freshcaller is a phone system. Conversational voice is a different install.
Freshcaller is numbers, phone menus, queues, recordings — a cloud private branch exchange (the business phone system). A human on Freshcaller is not Freddy answering.
Freshcaller’s marketing mentions “AI-powered voice bots” and speech-enabled interactive voice response (the “say 1” menu). That page does not name Freddy AI Agent or Agent Studio as the voicebot, and it does not document shared knowledge with Chat AI Agent. Treat “voice bots” on the phone-system brochure as a different object until your workspace shows otherwise.
Speech-enabled menus are intent routing (“say 1”), not a multi-turn conversation from the same knowledge as webchat.
Freshworks’ Voice AI Agent integration is the documented conversational path: install Synthflow or Squawkvoice from the Freshcaller Marketplace, build the voice agent in that app, then configure a Voice AI Agent handover in Freshcaller and assign it to a number (Send to Voice AI Agent during business hours). The third-party agent talks; Freshcaller routes the overflow to a queue, phone menu, voicemail, or another voice agent. That is a second training loop. Freshworks’ own Synthflow AI Agent marketplace listing is labeled Not governed by Freshworks Freddy AI.
Omni attaches recordings to tickets — not Agent Studio mapped to the packing-slip number.
A return article edited in Freshdesk on Tuesday can reach webchat and still be missing from Synthflow’s prompt on Friday. The ticket can still look unified because Omni attached a recording. That is three objects: Freddy, Freshcaller, marketplace voice.
| Criterion | Freshdesk + Freddy (public docs, 19 September 2026) | Guzli |
|---|---|---|
| Written AI | Freddy AI Agent on email, webchat, WhatsApp, social. Agent Studio for chat and email | Storefront live chat from one knowledge base |
| Phone / phone system | Freshcaller: numbers, menus, queues, humans; marketing also names voice bots / speech menus | Forward the existing number on Standard or Pro |
| Conversational voice AI | Marketplace install (Synthflow or Squawkvoice), built in that app (Voice AI integration) | Same agent as the widget |
| Same knowledge as webchat | Not the default. Speech menus are intent routing, not Agent Studio on the packing-slip number | Yes |
| Inbox | Freshdesk is the desk | Freshdesk, Salesforce, Zendesk, or Guzli’s help desk |
| Who should run it | A Freshworks admin (and a voice-app admin if you add one) | Ops / support |
“Freddy answers the phone” usually means a human in Freshcaller, a speech menu, a Freshcaller-marketing voice bot you must identify on this account, or a third-party voice agent. Only the last is documented as a conversation you build in Synthflow/Squawkvoice, and it is not Agent Studio.
When Freshdesk stays — and when Guzli is the wrong add
Keep Freshdesk + Freddy when service-level agreements, the portal, Omni, and Copilot are how the org works, and shoppers already live in email, webchat, WhatsApp, or social. Add Freshcaller plus a marketplace voice app if you will staff that second training loop.
Tickets stay in Freshdesk. Guzli does not replace Freddy on tickets, Copilot, or Omni, and it is the wrong add if a human in Freshcaller is already enough. Hobby is chat-only; voice is Standard or Pro. The new work is a storefront widget and a forwarded store number.
Gorgias, Fin, and Freddy
Those are desks. They win when the job is tickets, service-level agreements, and a help center. They do not automatically win the same-agent phone job.
- Gorgias is a Shopify helpdesk. Gorgias Voice lets customers call to speak with an agent; the interaction is saved as a Voice ticket. Phone AI is usually a bolt-on such as Consio. Gorgias alternative that answers the phone.
- Fin + Fin Voice can be one Fin brain on Messenger and the line — when Voice is on the contract. Deploy Fin Voice is sales-gated. That packaging is the other fork: Fin Voice vs a chat + phone AI agent.
- Freddy stays correct if you already live in Freshworks and the phone can wait, or you will operate Freshcaller plus a marketplace voice agent.
Guzli is the front line when the desk is already chosen and the gap is the bot going quiet on the call.
Shopify actions without treating Freddy as a theme app
Freddy’s vertical workflows name Shopify, Stripe, and shipping tools for order and subscription work inside Freshdesk conversations. Confirm those connectors on your Omni / Agent Studio workspace. That is desk-native commerce, not a theme-app install from apps.shopify.com.
Guzli’s Shopify integration is storefront context on the widget and the inbound line. Not an App Store app. Stripe, Calendly, HubSpot, Zapier, or Snowflake only when you connect them.
The Shopify logo is not the decision. The decision is whether the shopper who chats and the shopper who dials get the same order truth without a second vendor’s script.
Price (USD, 19 September 2026)
Guzli (/pricing/): Hobby at $49/mo for chat-only. Standard at $149 + 16¢/min (talk rate 16¢/min, transfer 5¢/min, 3 concurrent). Pro at $499 + 14¢/min (talk 14¢/min, transfer 4¢/min, 8 concurrent). Chat-credit overage at the listed checkout rate.
Freddy sessions are public on Agent Studio (20 August 2026 article): $49 per 100-session pack; Growth / Pro / Enterprise get 500 one-time complementary sessions; unused packs do not roll over. Freshdesk seats and Freshcaller minutes are still Freshworks quotes — unknown here. Synthflow / Squawkvoice bill separately.
| You should buy… | If… |
|---|---|
| Freshdesk + Freddy | Freshworks is the desk; Freddy on email / webchat / WhatsApp / social is the job; phone is out of scope or Freshcaller + a marketplace voice AI is acceptable |
| Guzli | Small ecommerce; website live chat + inbound call on one published-plan agent; keep Freshdesk as the inbox |
| Keep Freshdesk | The portal and Omni already work — do not rip the desk only to cover a store number |
The useful split. Keep Freshdesk + Freddy when the desk is the job and the phone can wait — or when you will operate Freshcaller plus a marketplace voice agent. Pick Guzli when the gap is the storefront widget and the inbound call sharing one knowledge base, with Freshdesk as the inbox.
What that does not cover. Freddy does not answer the phone as the same Agent Studio mapping used for webchat. Conversational voice is a marketplace install. Guzli does not replace Omni or Copilot. Confirm the live stack before anyone treats Freddy as the packing-slip agent.
FAQ
Does Freddy answer the phone?
Not as the same Agent Studio mapping used for webchat. Agent Studio documents Chat AI Agent and Email AI Agent only. “Freddy answers the phone” usually means a human in Freshcaller, a speech menu (“say 1”), a Freshcaller-marketing voice bot you must identify on this account, or a third-party voice agent. Only the last is documented as a conversation you build in Synthflow or Squawkvoice, and Freshworks’ Synthflow listing is labeled Not governed by Freshworks Freddy AI.
Is Freshcaller the same as conversational voice AI?
No. Freshcaller is the phone system: numbers, menus, queues, recordings. Conversational voice is a marketplace install — you build the voice agent in Synthflow or Squawkvoice, then assign it to a number in Freshcaller. That is a second training loop. Omni attaching a recording to a ticket is not the same knowledge as webchat.
Does Guzli replace Freshdesk or Freddy?
No. Guzli does not replace Freddy on tickets, Copilot, or Omni. Keep Freshdesk as the inbox. Guzli is the front line when the gap is the storefront widget and the inbound call sharing one knowledge base.
Do webchat answers automatically reach the packing-slip number?
Not by default. A return article edited in Freshdesk on Tuesday can reach webchat and still be missing from Synthflow’s prompt on Friday. The ticket can still look unified because Omni attached a recording. That is three objects: Freddy, Freshcaller, marketplace voice.
