Kustomer AI Voice + Chat for Shopify (2026): Same Agent or Bolt-On?

Kustomer is the CRM with Concierge and native Voice. Guzli is the storefront and phone agent you put in front of the desk — keep Kustomer if it already owns the brand.

Pick Kustomer if the brand already runs that CRM, Concierge is the AI you want on the customer timeline (including native Voice), and shoppers should live inside one customer record.

Pick Guzli if the job is the same answers on the website live chat widget and the inbound call on a published plan, while Kustomer, Salesforce, or Zendesk keeps the inbox.

Guzli sells the storefront product and wrote this page. Kustomer facts below are from Kustomer’s October 2024 AI Agents launch, the Shopify App Store listing, and Kustomer’s Shopify live-chat article, read 19 September 2026. One AI for chat and the call sounds simple. On Kustomer it lives inside a CRM timeline. On Guzli it lives on a published plan in front of the desk. Mixing them up is how a Shopify team compares a platform quote to a self-serve card.

The CRM timeline is the product

Kustomer is a CRM / conversation platform. The bet is one customer record: purchase history and past conversations in the same place. Concierge (and the later AI Agents for Customers) is the customer-facing AI against that record — chat, SMS, email, WhatsApp, and Voice when those channels are on the workspace.

You do not buy Kustomer to get a storefront widget. You buy it because the brand’s history should sit in one timeline. If that is already how the team works, expanding AI onto Voice inside Kustomer is the coherent move. If you do not have a CRM problem, you do not have a Kustomer problem.

Guzli is not a Concierge replacement. It is the storefront and phone agent you put in front of whichever desk already owns the brand. When a human is needed, Guzli opens a ticket in Salesforce, Zendesk, or Guzli’s own help desk — not a claim that Guzli writes cases back into Kustomer.

Concierge on chat, then native Voice

Kustomer launched native Voice in 2024 and then put AI Agents on that channel. The introducing AI Agents post frames Voice as built into the platform — SMS, email, chat, WhatsApp, and Voice — not a third-party receptionist glued on later. Help docs for Concierge / AI Agents still cover chat and voice against one customer timeline. You still have to confirm Concierge and Voice are enabled on your workspace. Native is not the same as “every seat, every brand, already live.”

Verdict: Kustomer Voice is a CRM-native channel. Guzli publishes inbound voice on Standard+ as a storefront surface. Same word (“voice”), different object.

The tension for a small Shopify team is rarely “does Kustomer have voice.” It is “do we need a CRM expansion to stop the widget and the line from disagreeing.” If the brand already lives in Kustomer, expanding Concierge onto Voice is coherent. If you just need storefront and store number to share answers this quarter, that is a different product shape.

Desk-native Shopify vs a storefront agent

Kustomer documents Shopify — order search tools for AI Agents, refunds/cancellations from the timeline, a Shopify App Store listing for the CRM side. That listing (19 September 2026) still shows a free-to-install app with external Kustomer billing: from $89 per user / month (Enterprise) and $139 per user / month (Ultimate). Conversation-style pricing has also been part of Kustomer’s public story; confirm which model is on your order form.

Checkout live chat is desk-native commerce. Kustomer’s Shopify live-chat article (25 March 2025) states that live chat on Checkout and Thank you pages is only available for Shopify Plus. Confirm the live listing and your Shopify plan before the deck says checkout chat is covered.

Guzli’s Shopify integration is the widget plus the inbound line. Not an App Store app. Order-aware answers on both surfaces, then a ticket in Salesforce, Zendesk, or Guzli’s help desk when a human is needed.

Verdict: Kustomer Shopify is CRM-timeline commerce. Guzli Shopify is storefront + line. Do not score them as “who has the Shopify logo.”

Who already lives in Kustomer should stay

Stay on Kustomer when the timeline is the system of record. Agents already open one customer card. Concierge is trained. Voice is (or will be) on the workspace. Ripping that to publish a $149 storefront plan is how you split the customer record you paid to unify.

Guzli publishes Hobby at $49/mo chat-only; voice starts Standard at $149 + 16¢/min talk (5¢/min transfer). Live numbers: current plans and pricing.

Putting an agent in front of the CRM

Guzli: one training pass on help articles, prior solved tickets, the site, and files. Website live chat and inbound calls share that brain. Forward the existing line always, or only on no-answer, busy, or after hours. Keep Kustomer for the customer record if that is already the inbox.

You should buy…If…
Kustomer (Concierge + Voice)Brand already runs that CRM; Concierge on the timeline including native Voice; shoppers live inside one customer record
Guzli in front of KustomerSame answers on widget and inbound call; published plan; Kustomer keeps the inbox

Kustomer vs Guzli is CRM AI timeline versus storefront-and-inbound agent.

FAQ

Can Kustomer cover website live chat and inbound phone with the same AI?+

Concierge is documented on chat and voice against one customer timeline, and Voice is native. Both need to be enabled on your workspace. Native is not the same as “every seat, every brand, already live.” That is still the CRM timeline, not a published-plan storefront and inbound agent.

Does Guzli replace Kustomer?+

Usually no on the desk. Stay if the timeline is already the system of record. Yes on the need for a separate phone AI if you want the website live chat widget and the inbound call to share one published-plan agent while Kustomer keeps the inbox. Guzli does not claim it writes cases back into Kustomer.

Is checkout live chat available on every Shopify plan?+

No. Kustomer’s Shopify live-chat article (25 March 2025) states that live chat on Checkout and Thank you pages is only available for Shopify Plus. Confirm the live listing and your Shopify plan before a deck says checkout chat is covered.
