Guzli vs Retell
Guzli vs Retell AI is a no-code front line versus a latency-sensitive voice API. Retell is for teams that want SDKs, SIP, IVR, DTMF, and live take-over. Guzli is website chat plus inbound and outbound voice on one knowledge base and one bill, with an inbox across Email, Chat, Voice, Slack, and WhatsApp. Hobby is $49 chat only (1,000 credits). Voice starts on Standard at $149 + 16¢/min. Keep Retell if an engineer will own prompts, tools, and telephony. Guzli will not out-API Retell.
Quick verdict: Choose Guzli if website chat and the phone must share one knowledge base and one bill. Choose Retell AI if you have engineers and want a latency-sensitive voice API. Choose Vapi if you want to assemble STT, LLM, TTS, and telephony yourself.

Dashboard ¢/min versus last month’s invoice
Retell’s token surcharge can move the bill. Guzli prints the talk rate.

Retell AI pricing model
Pay-as-you-go per-minute voice with component meters. The dashboard base rate can pick up an LLM token surcharge. Live docs document a 4,000-token threshold.
What to model before committing
- • Your expected monthly conversations and calls
- • Seats or usage meters that grow with your team
- • Add-ons needed to match an all-in-one platform

Why builders keep Retell’s SDKs
Retell’s API and take-over wins
- • Latency-sensitive voice API with SDKs, webhooks, and simulation testing
- • Custom telephony: SIP, bring-your-own carrier, IVR, and DTMF
- • Live call-center controls such as warm transfer, listen-in, and take-over
- • Higher self-serve concurrency than Guzli Standard or Pro
Where dashboard ¢/min lies
- • Phone-first — website chat is not a first-class support chatbot as one agent on chat and phone
- • Dashboard base ¢/min is not always the invoice; live docs document a 4,000-token LLM surcharge
- • Production strength is API and telephony ownership, not a no-code ops workflow
- • You still typically buy a separate chatbot if the website must match the phone
The 13.6¢ thread, cited
Sourced Retell AI complaints and vendor docs, with links. These are not Guzli customers. Pair each with why someone should still stay on Retell AI.
“I have been testing my app but suddenly the price has gone up even though exact same LLM and voice. at top it says 13.6 cents but for example this less than 4 minute call was 76 cents.”
Kendall Stauffer (@ken2), Retell community · 22 Apr 2026 · Source
“The ‘13.6¢/min’ shown at the top of the dashboard is the base rate… Your two calls are hitting an additional LLM token surcharge. There’s no direct alert specifically for the 3,500-token threshold.”

Bottom line
TL;DR: Retell AI is a latency-sensitive voice API — SDKs, SIP, IVR, DTMF, listen-in, take-over. Guzli is a no-code agent for the website and the phone on one bill. Vapi is the other API in the table. Keep Retell if an engineer will own prompts and telephony. Guzli will not out-API Retell.

The number on the dashboard is not always the bill
Retell’s live docs document an LLM token surcharge above 4,000 tokens. The sourced surprise is the April 2026 community thread: dashboard 13.6¢/min versus a sub-four-minute call at about 76¢. Staff called it a token surcharge (they cited 3,500 tokens then) with no dedicated alert (thread).
Vapi’s $0.05/min is hosting. This page does not invent an all-in Vapi ¢/min either.
Guzli publishes the talk rate next to the plan. Chat-only Hobby is $49. Voice is $149 + 16¢/min on Standard, or $499 + 14¢/min on Pro. For 10,000 talk-minutes, Standard is $1,749 before transfer. Compare that to last month’s Retell invoice — usage plus any 4,000-token surcharge — plus whatever you still pay for website chat. Guzli is not trying to win cheapest PSTN.
SIP, IVR, and someone taking the call
Conversation-flow graphs, simulation testing, warm transfer, listen-in, and take-over are why contact-center builders pick Retell. Custom SIP and DTMF are the spec, not a nice-to-have. Independent buyers treat latency as Retell’s story. Vendor sub-500ms figures are still not what a caller hears; Openbenchmarks TTFAB was about 1.5s median (31 July 2026, via CloudTalk). Guzli does not publish a competing latency SLA here.
If you are embedding a voice feature in your own product, Retell or Vapi is the shortlist. If a BAA is the RFP, start with Retell’s enterprise docs.
Engineers stay for a reason
Stay if developers will own the tools and the carrier; if custom SIP/IVR is non-negotiable; if you need twenty-plus concurrent lines on day one. Keep the API. Rebuild is a waste if the job is still a voice product you sell.
Ops leave for a different reason
Leave the front-line number and the website widget if the person who will edit answers is not going to live in an SDK. Train chat and voice once. Rebuild Retell tools as actions you actually use — Calendly, a custom API — instead of cloning the graph. Keep Retell or Vapi for any API you still ship. Hobby cannot exercise voice.
